Event Details

What:    Edmonton Public Library (EPL) Writer in Residence Meet, Tweet and Greet

Where:  EPL Whitemud Crossing Branch (4211 - 106 Street)

Date:    Saturday, January 15, 2011

Time:    2:30 – 4:30 pm

Cost:     Free, but please bring a book for the book swap.

EPL celebrates their 2011 writer in residence, Marty Chan, with a mixer for writers, social media junkies and book lovers. Marty will unveil his programs and offer a sneak peek of his published play, The Forbidden Phoenix.

The event is free, but EPL has set up a book swap for lovers of literature to share their passion. Please bring a book you love, and believe other people should read. We’ll collect the novels and put them on display for people to pick their first book to read in 2011.

Bring your smartphones for a good new-fashioned tweetup. (Note: every person who attends the event and can tell Marty the Twitter hashtag for updates about EPL's writer in residence programs will receive an autographed copy of Marty's picture book, True Story. The hashtag is #EPLwriteR.)

In addition to Marty, representatives from over 30 writing organizations will be on hand to talk to people. If you’re a fiction writer who wonders what it’d be like to adapt your novel into a stage play or movie script, you’ll be able to chat with people who work in theatre and film. Or if you have questions about poetry, fiction or nonfiction, someone is bound to have the answers. Check out who's coming.
